3Possibly BoringJul 17, 2009

This is a pretty good kit overall, especially for my daughter who loves rocks and crystals. However, there is no instant gratification that is normally demanded by a 7 year old. You will need old pickle jars (or equivalent) right out of the gate. Of course, we did not have any handy. Then you mix certain items together and essentially wait a day or two. Also, some of the items can be hazardous so keep this in mind if you have little ones.

3Good time, not so good result.Feb 24, 2012
Something fun to do with the kids, and it does give a basic understanding of the elements, but in the end the crystals look nothing like they do on the box. Ends up being a little disappointing when the kids see the finished product. It requires some set up by an adult and adult supervision so it is a fun learning experience with your kids.

4Fun activityJan 13, 2013

We bought this for my 8 yr old for Christmas; he and his dad got to spend quality time making these crystals together. He enjoyed it, and has been having fun watching the crystals grow. Good idea to reiterate to the kids that the crystal growing takes time...not for immediate gratification. Still a four star product.

2Seems complicatedMar 16, 2012

I didn't care for this product when it arrived. The instructions were cumbersome and not fun for my child to want to put together or make crystals. I didn't like this product for this reason. I would not recommend this product.
