3Could be better....Mar 08, 2013
By Katrina Journeaux
For the price its great but I was a bit disappointed that although the parts LOOK like they are made out of metal...they are made of PLASTIC which makes this microscope easier to break! When you are trying to focus it, you have to HOLD the knob to KEEP it focused or the "neck" slides back down causing it to go back OUT of focus. It's also hard to get the light placed "JUST RIGHT" in order for it to show through the hole in the bottom without turning OFF on us! The kids (ages 8 & 10) have had fun with it though so that's all that matters I guess, but I have to help them with it every time they use it b/c its just too hard for them to focus it on their own. I just wish it had been better quality!

5Boy gift which is loved by my grandson. Boys are so hard to find things for during the holiday season.Dec 10, 2013

Bought for my grandson who is 9 years old. He loves it. He puts everything he can under it to study. It has come in handy for his school work and made him more interested in science. Great gift for a boy or girl.

1Poor, poor constructionDec 25, 2012

Not only is it mostly made of plastic it must be the cheapest plastic available. Thumbscrews slip. Just when you FInally get something into focus don't dare let go or the scope slides down, losing focus. Viewing holes don't lineup. Eyepiece is of "Cracker Jack" quality. When I was a kid I had a microscope. All metal, made in the USA! Still working 40 years later!!!!!
